Bio

A proud Dundonian, Rebecca is an English and Creative Writing alumna and co-founder of the charity Folklore Scotland. Armed with an obscene number of folklore books, she and her husband strive to preserve the tales of the past for a new generation by digitising stories, recording podcasts, and of course, hunting for fairies. Her debut Scottish-inspired fantasy novel, Song of the Stag (originally published by Ringwood Publishing, later self-published) won the Frederick Forsyth People’s Book Prize 2024/5.

She is fascinated by the transmutation of stories with each telling and loves to build this into her fantasy worlds. In her writing, folklore is a force to be reckoned with; it has the power to uproot lives and divert the course of history.

Her love of stories and Scotland go hand-in-hand, and her debut novel, Song of the Stag, was born after her family got bored of hearing impassioned rants about Scottish politics and history at the dinner table.
